    What a wonderful creation. Bonkers and brilliant in equal measure. Giving it a live steam-engine as a 'beating heart' is very appropriate because Theo's strandbeests really do appear to be alive. Thank you for letting us see your work! 🙂

    These are absolutely stunning! So very creative and fun. It truly captured my imagination. And while they may look very simple I think they are very complex with all of those gears + parts. Like how does one arrange never to have the cat + the mouse looking out of the box at the same time?? It also reminds me of the very old toy I had as a kid, of two wooden men who would take turns hitting a peg (nail) with hammers.

    there's got to be a way to steer these things that doesn't involve making two powertrains. Maybe a weight on a rack that can change the cg left and right? Maybe some kind of little shoes on the feet that make one side slide instead of gripping? Maybe just give up and add some arms on the end of the main shaft that can move down and drag on the ground.

    • @stoccafissodesign2569
      @stoccafissodesign2569 20 дней назад

      @@confuseatronica I thought about it for a long time, I could use the clutch system that some small tracked vehicles have (motorized wheelbarrows for example) a clutch that stops the movement of a block of legs and makes another block go, so it can rotate easily, as if it were a tracked vehicle. But to do this I need much more precision and I don't think wood is a good material, It also needs a bigger motor because it would all become much heavier. Maybe in the future I will do it!
